because my dreams have been so vivid, so colorful, such a contrast to my waking life that i anticipate them throughout the day, turning in as early as 10:30, 10:45, to start my nightly travels. first one: i am in a bar with the band Spoon, I am shooting the shit, i am drinking Russian vodka, I am drunk, "you're a lush!" they laugh. suddenly we are outside and it's a blizzard. the snow is beating down on us, hard, harder than ever, harder than i could have ever imagined, it's stinging and i'm walking, and my feet are sinking, disappearing into the snow. the singer turns to me and laughs and suddenly he is faceless but still laughing. the sound echos. the snow is a wall.
the next night i am in a room full of people. my friends are there, drunk, slurring their words into my ear and i can see the words falling, dripping onto the ground like slugs, piling up on the floor. suddenly i am running away from all of them into the welcoming sunlight, the music crescendos, i am screaming at something, i'm so upset, why can't they fucking HEAR me screaming, a toilet flushes, overflows, i hear a door slam, the door of my sleep? i'm awake and i have no idea where i am and my head is pounding and then it comes back, it's me, i'm in ohio, i'm in my tiny daybed, the stormlight from next door is blinking, i'm still here. i'm always here. i'm always here.
